Cape
Verde is a place of immense beauty and culture, but for some reason doesn’t get
the acclaim its other island brethren receive. Truth be told, it’s an amazing
place to go for a holiday, which you can do with First Choice. The mix of volcanic
islands and sandy beaches ensure that you’ll have a great time. Here are just a
few reasons to love Cape Verde.
The
islands
The islands
that make up Cape Verde are as diverse as the people that inhabit them. You’ve
got Sal, the most popular island for visitors. It’s the easiest to access, and
greets visitors with clear water and pure white sand.
For a
more relaxing holiday, there’s Boa Vista. This island boasts 55 km of beaches,
without the busyness that can sometimes define Sal.
If you
ever grow tired of the sand, then a trip to Santiago or Sao Vicente should be
in the books. These two islands are considered the cultural centers of Cape
Verde, with a renowned live music scene and plenty of markets and cafes dotting
the landscapes.
Of
course, you can’t mention Cape Verde and not refer to the island of Fogo, home
to the Pico do Fogo volcano. This
volcano is still active and rises 2,829 meters above sea level. It’s a real
sight to behold.
The
people
With its
African and Portuguese roots, the locals of Cape Verde are welcoming and
eclectic at the same time. Don’t be surprised if you come across a busy town
square in Cape Verde towns, as it’s traditional for locals to walk around the
town square to meet friends. This type of lifestyle lends to a group of people
who love visiting, whether it be an old friend, or a tourist who’s visiting for
the weekend. That’s why visitors will feel welcome, and are bound to learn
something new about this diverse culture. This is reason in itself to make the
trip.
Those are
just a few of the reasons to love Cape Verde. Of course there’s the delicious
food, the perfect locations for windsurfing and kiteboarding, and the perfect
temperatures. It all adds up to a one of a kind holiday.
